The Opportunity


PLG is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intermediate Biologist to join our growing environmental team. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career professional who enjoys problem-solving, learning new techniques, and contributing to a wide variety of projects in a collaborative and supportive environment.


Reporting directly to the Lead Biologist, the Intermediate Biologist will play a key role in delivering high-quality environmental services. You will have the chance to contribute both as part of an integrated team (collaborating with our planning team on multidisciplinary projects) and independently, taking ownership of project components and supporting the development of practical, science-based solutions. This position provides a balance of hands-on fieldwork, technical reporting, and client-focused project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct vegetation assessments, environmental baseline studies, and habitat restoration projects.
  • Monitor construction activities for environmental compliance, including erosion and sediment control.
  • Prepare independent environmental monitoring reports and regulatory submission packages.
  • Participate in biological field studies and wildlife assessments under the guidance of senior biologists.
  • Contribute to technical reports, remediation plan designs, and long-term monitoring programs.
  • Assist with development permit applications and wildlife collection permits.
  • Service water quality treatment systems and monitor erosion and sediment control measures.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant environmental science or a technical diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant environmental consulting experience (BC experience preferred).
  • Skills: Proficiency in vegetation identification, stream mapping, and biophysical assessments (including RAPR reports). Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a consistent work ethic.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Asset: Membership (or eligibility) with the College of Applied Biology.
